Welcome to the Online PSA Course from Virtual Maritime Academy.

Welcome to the Online (STCW ISPS) Proficiency in Security Awareness Course. The course meets with all the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements of the key learning objectives as required by Transport Canada as meeting the requirements laid down in:

Regulation VI/6, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/6, paragraphs 4 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.

About the PSA Course

Within this course module, there are various audio recordings and / or videos for you to watch and listen to. These are not mandatory viewing, but may enhance your overall learning experience.

If you do not have sufficient quality speakers on your laptop or device, or you wish to study in private, you should make sure that you have attached either a set of external speakers to your device or you have earphones or headphones so that you get the most out of this course as possible to ensure you receive the full learning experience.

About the PSA Course

On completion of the Online Approved (STCW ISPS) Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA) Course, you will receive a 45 question (randomly picked) final course assessment. You need to achieve a minimum score of 70% or more to pass this course.

On successful passing of the final assessment, you must notify us that you have completed your course. Upon verifying your results, we will send you your official Approved PSA Certificate.

You must ensure that you have sent us your ID when you were prompted on the following relevant Learner Verification page within this section of the course.

N.B.: It is very important to note:
To re-attempt the final Assessment if you fail it there is a fee of 75$ CAD for each re-attempt. More detail on the Final Assessment Section of this course.

About the PSA Course

On completion of the Final assessment, you will then be required to complete the Feedback Section of this course.

If you do not complete this in full, your course will not record as being 100% complete and you will not be able to download the Certificate of Completion. You require this certificate as it must be emailed to us at: course@virtual-mairitime-academy.com to claim your official Certificate.

About the PSA Course

Once you have fully completed this course, email us your copy (PDF format) of the Certificate of Completion issued at the end of this course.

You will need to email us this certificate at course@virtual-maritime-academy.com

On receipt of this certificate, and confirmation of your assessment score, we will email you a scanned copy of the official certificate. We will also mail your original certificate to your address entered in our system.

Note: The certificate issued automatically from completlgin the course is not your official course certificate. The official Approved (STCW ISPS) Certificate will be sent to you once you have successfully passed this course and the associated final assessment and notified us of doing so. If you do not let us know, there will be a delay in you receiving your official certificate.

Please Note: Security awareness training must be undertaken by all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on ships which are required to comply with the ISPS Code. This training course meets with the following Learning Outcomes.
